About Us

Our Mission

At Meows and Mutts Rescue, our mission is to save lives, strengthen communities, and give every animal the chance they deserve. We focus on pulling cats and dogs from overcrowded shelters, owner surrenders, and even the streets, ensuring they receive the care they need to start fresh.

Through fostering, transport, and community outreach, we’re creating a brighter future for the animals who need us most. It’s not just about saving animals—it’s about building a world where every pet is safe, loved, and cared for.

How We Got Started

Meows and Mutts Rescue was born out of a shared passion for helping animals in need. Founded in September 2022 in Mobile, Alabama, our roots run deep in compassion and determination.

Our founders, Kristy and Tammy, each answered the call to rescue during times of crisis. Kristy began her journey after witnessing the devastation left by Hurricane Katrina, stepping in to help displaced and vulnerable animals. Tammy joined the mission during the historic floods of 2016 in Louisiana, saving lives in the face of overwhelming challenges.

Together, they built Meows and Mutts Rescue—a community-driven organization committed to giving cats and dogs a second chance at life.

What Is Animal Transport?

Why does it matter?

Transport is at the heart of what we do at Meows and Mutts Rescue. In overcrowded shelters along the Gulf Coast, countless cats and dogs face uncertain futures. With limited space and resources, many of these animals are at risk of euthanasia simply because there’s no room left.

That’s where transport comes in. By coordinating safe, reliable transportation, we move these animals out of overcrowded shelters and into the care of rescues in other areas, where they’re given the opportunity to find loving homes.

Transport saves lives. It’s the bridge between despair and hope for thousands of animals each year. Every transport we organize not only gives a new chance to the animals we move, but it also relieves the pressure on local shelters and creates space for them to help more animals.

When you support our mission, you’re fueling this critical work and helping us ensure no animal is left behind.
